Suzanne grew up riding and training her horses, and from an early age, she knew that horse training would be a large part of her life. She also knew she needed a backup plan to be financially independent enough to start her own training operation. Suzanne attended the Pennsylvania State University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Production and later her Masters and Ph.D in Pathobiology. During college, Suzanne trained horses for extra income and, for a while, was a licensed exercise rider for a Thoroughbred farm in the state of Virginia. There, she began starting colts, getting them conditioned on the track and through the gates.

After graduating from Penn State, Suzanne worked for the university as the section head for molecular diagnostics at the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory. She worked extensively in applied diagnostics and research with an emphasis on immunology and infectious diseases. Suzanne has published several peer-reviewed articles, presented research results at many national venues, and, in her experience as an equestrian has given many demonstrations at equine expositions across the country including, Equine Affaire and the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo. While she was working at Penn State, Suzanne and her husband Glenn bought a farm in Centre County, PA, and it was here that Suzanne started living her passion of training horses.

Once established, Suzanne built a strong reputation for colt starting and problem-solving with ill-behaved horses. Her unique and broad-based training program allowed Suzanne to work with multiple breeds in various disciplines and build a reputation as an excellent horse trainer. However, her heart was always drawn to the sport of Reining. Eventually, Suzanne purchased her first reining prospects at the National Reining Horse Association Futurity sale in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

In the years that followed, Suzanne has had the opportunity to show several great horses and eventually earn the title of Reserve World Champion. Today, Suzanne is working toward fulfilling more goals in the reining discipline for herself, and in the process, is helping non-pros and youth fulfill their goals of showing reining horses as their respected coach. Suzanne has a reputation as an honest businesswoman with integrity in the equine industry and enjoys fulfilling her passion for starting and showing finished reining horses.

With combined experience in academia and horsemanship, Suzanne Myers, M.S., Ph.D., founder of Suzanne Myers Performance Horses, is a unique talent in the equine industry today.
